Growing pains

Most of the time I don't feel my age. But every so often things happen that make me feel very small and hopelessly naive. At such times I tend to panic. I'm not used to feeling incompetent. Its not the greatest feeling in the world. Sometimes I have to wonder how exactly I ended up being who I am. People are always surprised by my maturity. The funny thing is, I'm not quite sure how it happened either. Life seems to be one set of plunges after another. As soon as you've learned to deal with one thing, something else comes along that you weren't prepared for.
